CAREER: Played parts of three seasons for the Wildcats as a reserve running back and on special teams. 

2020: Saw action in nine games... Tallied a season-high rushing 14 yards in his final collegiate game against Texas... Hauled in the first two passes of his career, one in K-State’s win at No. 3 Oklahoma and one against Kansas... Also had a tackle on kickoff coverage against the Jayhawks.

2019: Played in all 13 games on both special teams and as a reserve running back... Led the team with six special teams tackles, five of which came on kickoff coverage, also a team best... Set career highs in carries, yards and long rush in the season opener against Nicholls, a game in which he scored his first-career touchdown... Also had a rushing touchdown and totaled 58 yards at Kansas... Set his career high with two tackles on kickoff coverage against the Jayhawks... Earned First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors.

2018: Was not a member of the program.
 
2017: Saw action in every game, finishing with four special teams tackles... Three of his stops came on punt coverage to tie for team-high honors... Rushed 10 times for 30 yards, including a season-high 15 yards on five carries against Charlotte... Also carded 11 yards on three attempts against Central Arkansas and four yards on two rushes against UCLA in the Cactus Bowl.
 
2016: Redshirted... A co-winner of the team’s Red Raider Award as the top contributor on scout team.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Trinity Academy under head coach Jared McDaniel... Rated the eighth-best prospect in the state of Kansas by ESPN.com in 2015... An All-Class 4A-II selection as both a running back and defensive back by the Wichita Eagle as a senior in 2014... Also earned all-state honors as a running back by the Topeka Capital-Journal... Picked up honorable mention all-state accolades in both 2012 and 2013... Rushed for 1,662 yards and scored 26 touchdowns as a senior... Named the Central Plains League MVP in 2013 and 2014, while he was a first team all-league running back as a sophomore, junior and senior... Also earned honorable mention all-league honors as a defensive back in 2013... Selected to play in the 2015 Kansas Shrine Bowl... Prepped with current Wildcat offensive lineman Ben Adler.
 
PERSONAL: Tyler Cole Burns was born September 5, 1996, in Olathe, Kansas... Son of Brad and Greta Burns... Has three siblings, Morgan, Chandler and Ashley... Older brother, Morgan, was a captain and 2015 All-American kick returner for the Wildcats... Earned his bachelor’s degree in social sciences.
