CAREER: A two-year member of the program who served as the primary place kicker over the first half of the season before retiring from football.
2021: Served as the primary place kicker in each of the first seven games of the year... Was 7-for-9 on field goal attempts and 22-of-23 field goal attempts... Made a season-high two field goals at Oklahoma State, which included a season long of 45 yards... Was true on all five extra-point attempts against Nevada and four apiece against Southern Illinois and Oklahoma.
2020: Did not see any game action.
COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Played two seasons at Butler under head coach Tim Shaffner… Punted 49 times for a 38.7-yard average as a sophomore en route to second team all-conference honors… Saw 15 of his 49 punts land inside the opponent’s 20-yard line while 11 were fair caught… Helped the Grizzlies earn a 10-3 record and a victory in the Midwest Classic Bowl… Had a season-best 57.8-yard average on five attempts at Iowa Western, which featured a 76-yard punt… Had a 51.0-yard average against Highland thanks in part to a 74-yard punt… His two 70-plus-yard punts were the longest in school history… Was also true on a 30-yard field goal against Snow College… Punted in one game in 2018… Played at Butler with current Wildcats Dawson Delforge and Ty Zentner.
HIGH SCHOOL: A two-year letterwinner at Halstead, the final year under head coach Jason Grider… Holds the record for the longest field goal made in school history, while he averaged 42 yards per punt… Also lettered in soccer and basketball.
PERSONAL: Taiten Lee Winkel was born June 21, 1999, in Hutchinson, Kansas… Son of Gary and Candace Winkel… Has two sisters, Taelir Parrott and Briana Winkel… Plans on majoring in kinesiology.
