2019: Played against Nicholls and Bowling Green as a reserve fullback… Earned First Team Academic All-Big 12 accolades.

HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year letterwinner at Phillipsburg under head coach J.B. Covington… A two-time first team all-state honoree by the Wichita Eagle, while he was an honorable mention pick as a sophomore in 2015… Also earned first-team honors as a senior from the Topeka Capital-Journal and Kansas Football Coaches Association, while he picked up honorable mention accolades as sophomore and junior… A three-time member of the Hays Daily News All-Area Super 11 Team… Helped lead the Panthers to a combined 44-6 record over his four seasons, including a 11-2 mark and a state championship in 2015… Rushed for 3,379 yards and 54 touchdowns over his final three seasons, while he carded 219 tackles during the same timeframe… Selected to play in the Kansas Shrine Bowl… Also lettered two years in wrestling and two years in track and field.
PERSONAL: Kirk Patrick Coomes was born March 16, 2000, in Hays, Kansas… Son of Angela Coomes… Has two brothers, Brad and Mark, and one sister, Mariah… Majoring in biology with the hopes of becoming a pediatric anesthesiologist.
