• 2018-19 First Team Academic All-Big 12
CAREER: A physical interior lineman who totaled 43 career starts to tie for sixth in school history among linemen since 1990.
2019: Started all 13 games at right guard... A member of a senior-laden offensive line that has combined for 159 career starts... One of the leaders of the line that helped block for 178.0 rushing yards per game to rank fourth in the Big 12... Helped block for 29 rushing touchdowns in 2019, the third most in the Big 12... Earned First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors, one of four Wildcats to be nominated with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
2018: Started 11 games, opening up at left guard the first four games of the season before moving to right tackle the next seven contests... Helped the Wildcats finish third in the Big 12 by averaging 182.6 rushing yards per game, which included a 184.2-yard average in conference games to rank second... A First Team Academic All-Big 12 honoree.
2017: A 13-game starter at right guard... Helped K-State tie for third in school history in rushing yards per carry (4.98) and finish seventh with 2,584 total rushing yards, each of which ranked second in the Big 12... Also blocked for a Wildcat bowl record 344-yard rushing output in the Cactus Bowl victory over UCLA.
2016: Appeared in nine games with six starts, including starting nods in each of the final four contests... Part of a K-State line that helped the Wildcats set the school record for rushing yards per carry (5.27), rank third in school history in total rushing yards (3,013) and rushing yards per game (231.8), and seventh in rushing touchdowns (39)... Helped the Wildcats rank sixth nationally in rushing touchdowns... Earned Big 12 All-Freshman team honors from Athlon.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Montgomery Academy under head coach Anthony McCall... Helped lead the Eagles to a 12-1 record and a trip to the quarterfinals of the Alabama 3A playoffs in 2014... Team also reached the state quarterfinals and went 11-2 in 2013... Earned first team all-state honors from the Alabama Sports Writers Association as a senior... An all-area pick in 2013 and by AL.com... Earned the team’s most improved offensive player and most valuable lineman awards... Also played baseball.
PERSONAL: Philip Tyler Mitchell was born January 21, 1997, in Mathews, Alabama... Son of Phil and Lauri Mitchell... Earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting in May 2019 and is currently pursuing a master’s in accounting.
