David Romay enters his first season as an assistant coach at Kansas State. Romay will be responsible for working with K-State’s goalkeepers and will also be involved in the preparation of the defensive game plan.

Romay joins the Wildcats following three seasons with the Houston Dynamo organization in MLS. Romay served as the goalkeeper coach in the Houston Dynamo Developmental Academy and also with the team’s U23 squad.

Romay has also worked with current Houston Dash starting netminder and 2017 NWSL Rookie of the Year finalist, Jane Campbell. Romay worked with Campbell beginning in the 2019 season, as Campbell has pocketed seven shutouts in 34 starts in that timeframe. 

A 2019 and 2020 graduate of Texas A&M, Romay aided Houston’s U23 team to consecutive Mid South Division titles in 2018 and 2019. He also helped mentor the U23 team to back-to-back qualifications in the MLS Lamar Hunt Open Cup in 2019 and 2020.

While providing coaching and skill development with the Houston Dynamo, Romay served as an assistant coach with both the men’s and women’s soccer programs at NCAA Division III University of St. Thomas in Houston. Romay aided both programs by coaching the goalkeepers for both teams in 2019 and mentored both to starting goalkeepers, Pedro Medrano and Olivia Futch, to All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) honors. 

Prior to his time with the Houston Dynamo, Romay served as the Assistant Director of Coaching with the Brazos Valley Youth Soccer Association from 2016 to 2018. 

Romay holds coaching licenses of UEFA B Candidate, UEFA B GK Candidate, Scottish FA GK 1.3, U.S. Soccer C License, NSCAA Advanced National GK and NSCAA National Diploma.
