Short Break Brings Track and Field Back for John Jacobs Invitational

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State track and field team will return to action for the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman, Oklahoma on Friday (April 22) and Saturday (April 23) at the John Jacobs Track and Field Complex.

The Wildcats have not competed since the Jim Click Shootout on April 7-9 in Tucson, Arizona.

On the final day of the Jim Click Shootout, K-State collected three first-place finishes. Junior and LSU transfer Emma Robbins won the women's hammer throw event with a heave of 63.79m/209-3. Robbins is currently ranked 16th in the women's hammer throw after a mark of 66.30m/217-6 at the Texas Relays in March 23.

In the men's high jump, junior Devon Richardson won the event with a height of 2.13m/6-11.75. Close behind was fifth-year senior Kyle Alcine in second place (2.13m/6-11.75) and freshman Kamyren Garrett in third (2.10m/6-10.75).

Garrett's height at the Texas Relays of 2.15m/7-0.50 puts him tied for 19th in the nation for the high jump. The freshman is tied with Mason Corbin from Texas A&M and Robert Vilches from Missouri.

Rounding out the final day of competition at the Jim Click Shootout was junior Shalysa Wray in the women's 400-meter dash. Wray placed first overall with a personal-best time of 52.98.

Sophomore Kade McCall finds himself ranked 20th in the men's hammer throw after his school-record throw of 67.56m/221-8 at the Texas Relays on March 23.

The John Jacobs Invitational will begin on Friday at 5 p.m., CT with the men's hammer throw. The women's shot put and women's long jump will also commence at 5 p.m. Rounding out Friday's events will be the women's 5,000-meter run at 7:30 p.m. and the men's 5,000-meter run at 8:00 p.m.

Saturday will start with the women's javelin throw at 10 a.m., CT and running events will take place at 12:30 p.m., CT with the women's 4x100-meter relay.
