Uhlin Finishes Fourth in Heptathlon, Eight Podium Finishes for Wildcats

LUBBOCK, Texas – The K-State men's and women's track and field teams competed in the last day of the Big 12 Indoor Championships on Saturday (Feb 25) at the Sports Performance Center.
After 19 events both the women's and men's team finished 8th in the final standings with the women's team scoring 38 points, while the men's team totaled 29 points. Host Texas Tech won the men's championship with 159 points, while Oklahoma State captured the women's title with 146 points.
Sophomore Emil Uhlin finished 4th in the heptathlon with 5,462 points against nine other competitors. He won the 1000 meters with a new personal best time of 2:38.67 and finished 2nd in the pole vault with a height of 4.93m/16-2.
Six other Wildcats had individual top-eight podium finishes. Junior Stephen Kielhofner finished strong in the men's 3000 meter with a 4th place finish in 8:11.01 behind three OSU Cowboys. Junior Shalysa Wray placed sixth in the women's 400 meter dash in a time of 50.23 seconds. Sophomore Grace Thompson had an 8th place personal best throw of 15.41m/50-6.75 in the women's shot put. Junior Jasmine Greer was right behind her in 9th place with a distance of 15.25m/50-0.50. Junior Hadley Splechter had an 8th place time of 4:07.59 in the men's mile, while junior Sydney Burton finished 9th place in the women's mile with a time of 4:53.30.
Four men competed in the high jump with three finishing in the top-eight. Junior Devon Richardson (5th; 2.15m/7-0.50) had the high finish for the Wildcats followed by sophomores Kam Garrett (6th; 2.15m/7-0.50) and Marcus Gelpi (7th; 2.11m/6-11). Sophomore Bryce Collins (10th; 2.02m/6-7.50) rounded out the top-10. Freshman Jhavor Bennet had a new personal best leap of 14.92m/48-11.50 to place 10th in the men's triple jump
The men's 4x400 meter relay team of juniors Tim Lambert Jr., Kyle Gale, Nicolas-Jean Moulin and senior Jack Pakkebier, landed a podium finish with a 7th place time of 3:12.42.
The NCAA Indoor Championships will round out the post season in Albuquerque, N.M. on Friday March 10, and Saturday March 11 at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
