MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State men's and women's track and field teams head to Fayetteville, Ark. on Friday (February 10) and Saturday (February 11) for the two-day Tyson Invitational hosted by Arkansas at the Randal Tyson Indoor Track.
On Friday, the women's pole vault will start the afternoon at 1:45 p.m. CT. The men's pole vault is the first event on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. CT.
Last week at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic (Feb. 3-4) the Wildcat distance runners and throwers did not compete, but this weekend they're back in action.
Freshman Grace Meyer ran in the mile and distance medley relay (DMR) for the first time in top-10 finishes at the Texas Tech Open & Multis (Jan. 26-28). Junior Jasmine Greer has competed in both the shot put and weight throw in multiple meets, doing so again this weekend.
Sophomore Matthew Hauser ran his fastest mile at the Open & Multis and will also run in the 3000 meters for the first time. Junior Kade McCall has consistently landed in the top-5 in the weight throw.
In the USTFCCCA event squad rankings the K-State men and women are ranked in the top-10 in one event each. The women are No. 4 in the weight throw for the second straight week, while the men place at No. 5 in the high jump. In order to qualify, a team must have at least four participating athletes in an event, where the top-four athletes' season bests are given a cumulative score.
