K-State Medley Relays Finish in Top-10 at Texas Relays

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams competed on Friday (March 31) in the second day of the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas at the Mike A. Myers Stadium and the Bobcat Invitational at the Texas State Track and Field Complex in San Marcos, Texas.
The Wildcats competed in multiple track and field events at both meets, with seven overall top-10 finishes.
A pair of Wildcats earned top-10 finishes in field events at the two meets. Junior Marcus Gelpi tied for third place in the men's high jump with a height of 2.07m/6-9.5 at the Bobcat Invitational. Junior Shalom Olotu competed in the women's long jump where she finished sixth with a jump of 6.04m/19-9.75 at the Texas Relays.
Two men ran in the Bobcat Invitational's 1,500 meters, as junior Jack Vincent (2nd; 3:52.25) set a new personal best while sophomore Alex Gutierrez (7th; 3:54.91) finished in the top-10 in his first attempt.
The Wildcats competed in three relay medleys at the Texas Relays, all with top-10 finishes. The women's sprint medley consisting of freshman Twaneise Johnson and juniors O'Shalia Johnson, Shalysa Wray and Sydney Burton, finished in seventh place with a time of 4:00.95.
The men's distance medley relay finished in third place with a time of 9:44.86, which included senior Stephen Kielhofner, junior Kyle Gale, sophomore Will Carroll and junior Hadley Splechter. The women's distance medley placed fourth in 11:48.66 and included freshman Grace Meyer and juniors O'Shalia Johnson, Aubry Donley and Hannah Stewart.
K-State will finish up competition in Texas on Saturday (April 1) with the men's and women's hammer throw at 10 a.m. CT in the Bobcat Invitational and competing only in the men's 4x800 relay at the Texas Relays at 10:55 a.m. CT.
