K-State Throwers Lead the Way to Conclude Mt. SAC Relays

Three Wildcats place in the top-10 in the hammer throw
WALNUT, Calif. – Led by juniors Kade McCall and Emma Robbins, the Kansas State throwers performed well on the final day of the 63rd annual Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday (April 15) at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
McCall's performance in the men's hammer was the highlight of the day, as he recorded a third place throw of 66.99m/219-9 out of a crowded field of 34 competitors. It marked the fifth time in his career that he posted a mark of 66 meters or better in the hammer.
Fellow junior Emma Robbins nearly topped her personal-best while competing in the women's hammer Elite competition, recording a toss of 67.03m/219-11 to place sixth. The event was won by reigning Camryn Rogers, who won the silver medal in the competition at the World Championships last summer.
Sophomore Monique Hardy secured another top-10 finish in the collegiate women's hammer competition with an eighth place throw of 59.33m/194-8 out of 39 throwers, while junior Charlotte Cattermole-Williams was 17th with a toss of 55.91m/183-5.
Junior Devon Richardson competed in the men's high jump Elite competition, placing 12th with a height of 2.05m/6-8 ¾.
Late on Friday night (April 14), the Wildcat distance crew continued their list of impressive performances with four top-10 finishes and personal-bests in the men's and women's 5,000 meters.
Junior Stephen Kielhofner posted the third-best time in program history in the men's 5,000 meter Elite race, finishing in a personal-best time of 13:51.20 to place fourth in a field of 24 runners. He crushed his previous-best time by nearly a minute (14.35.06 at the 2022 Big 12 Championships), while recording the best time by a Wildcat since Shadrick Kimeli broke the record at the 2001 Stanford Invitational.
Sophomore Matthew Hauser and junior Jack Moore each finished in the top-10 in the men's Collegiate 5,000 meters, as Hauser set a personal-best time of 14:26.04 to place fifth, while Moore also recorded a personal-best time of 14:30.88 to finish ninth. Junior Cailan Steward posted a personal-best time of 17:19.02 in the women's 5,000 meters with an eighth-place finish.
Overall, at the 3-day meet, the Wildcats collected 18 top-10 finishes at the Mt. SAC Relays, including a win by junior Hannah Stewart in the women's 3,000-meter Steeplechase on April 13.
K-State continues its outdoor season on Friday-Saturday, April 21-22 with the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas. The Wildcats host their lone outdoor meet on Friday-Saturday, May 5-6.
