A physical player who was a significant contributor to K-State’s run blocking in 2016... Will look to retain his starting duties at tight end as a junior... Voted a team captain for the 2017 season.

2016: Started all 13 games at tight end en route to Honorable Mention All-Big 12 honors from the league’s coaches... Caught two passes for eight yards but made his biggest mark in run blocking as he helped K-State set the school record for rushing yards per carry (5.27), rank third in school history in total rushing yards (3,013) and rushing yards per game (231.8), and seventh in rushing touchdowns (39)... Helped block for an offense that ranked sixth nationally in rushing touchdowns... A First Team Academic All-Big 12 honoree.

2015: Played 11 games with starts against Texas, Texas Tech and Iowa State... Recorded a pair of tackles on punt coverage.

2014: Redshirted.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Baldwin High under head coach Mike Berg... Helped the Bulldogs earn a 7-4 record during his senior season of 2012 and advance to the second round of the state playoffs... Named a first team all-state defensive end by the Topeka Capital-Journal... Picked up honorable mention all-state accolades from Wichita Eagle... Selected to play in the 2013 Kansas Shrine Bowl... A star in track and field as he won the Kansas 4A State Championship in discus and shot put as a junior.

PERSONAL: Dayton Lee Valentine was born in March 25, 1995, in Lawrence, Kansas... Son of the late Jeff Valentine and Marilee Valentine... Has one sister, Corey... Obtained a degree in kinesiology from Kansas State in December 2016 and is working toward another degree in aeronautical technology.
