• 2017 Rimington Trophy watch list

CAREER: A physical lineman who was the starting center in 2016 but retired prior to his senior year due to injury... Helped 2017 Senior Class earn a 32-20 record, four bowl berths and two bowl victories.

2017: Served as a student assistant coach after retiring from football during fall camp... Named to the Rimington Trophy watch list.

2016: Started all 13 games at center en route to Honorable Mention All-Big 12 accolades from the league’s coaches... Spearheaded a line that helped the Wildcats set the school record for rushing yards per carry (5.27), rank third in school history in total rushing yards (3,013) and rushing yards per game (231.8), and seventh in rushing touchdowns (39)... Also helped the Wildcats rank sixth nationally in rushing touchdowns.

2015: Played against South Dakota and Kansas.

2014: Saw action against UTEP and Oklahoma State.

2013: Redshirted.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Klein Oak under head coach David Smith... A first team all-district pick as a senior... Named one of the state’s top 100 football recruits by the Houston Chronicle... Voted a team captain as a senior... A 2012 Preseason First Team All-Greater Houston selection.

PERSONAL: Reid August Najvar (NYE-vuhr) was born July 26, 1994, in Houston, Texas... Son of Don Najvar and LeeAnn Schultz... Has five siblings... Older brother, Jordan, played tight end at Baylor from 2010-13 after redshirting the 2009 season at Stanford... He is currently an Offensive Quality Control coach at Tulsa... Obtained a degree in business management from Kansas State in May 2017.
