
Wildcats Head to Tulsa to Compete in Big 12 Championship

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State men's golf team will travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to compete in the 22nd Big 12 Men's Golf Championship, April 23-25, at the par 71, 7,012-yard Southern Hill Country Club. The Wildcats look to defeat Texas, who captured the 2017 Big 12 Championship, and take home the title.
The tournament will consist of four rounds, playing 26 holes on Monday, starting with an 8 a.m. tee time.
The Wildcats will send JC Campbell, Jacob Eklund, Ben Fernandez, Jeremy Gandon, and Roland Massimino to compete. This is the third-consecutive tournament this lineup has been used.
"We are very excited to compete at the Big 12 Championship next week," head coach Grant Robbins said. Southern Hills is a fantastic course and an excellent test of golf. The Big 12 is arguably the strongest conference in golf with five teams currently ranked in the top 15."
"Our guys are confident and eager to prove themselves against some of the best teams in the country on a major championship caliber course."
All five Wildcats last competed in the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa, finishing in third place.
Junior Jeremy Gandon claimed his second career tournament win in first place at 8-under par 136.
Ben Fernandez and Roland Massimino both tied for 21st place at 6-over par 150.
While Jacob Eklund was unable to match his first round score, but managed to climb nine spots in the final round to tie for 40th place at 13-over 157. JC Campbell finished tied for 53rd place at 13-over 157.
The Wildcats will be joined in the Big 12 Championship by Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech, and West Virginia .
