Apr 07, 2018 | Men's Golf
The K-State men's golf team will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday as it competes in the Tiger Intercollegiate in Columbia, Missouri. The event, which will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday, will be played at the par-72, 7,221-yard Club at Old Hawthorne.
The Wildcats will send five members of the team with Ben Fernandez, Jacob Eklund, Jeremy Gandon, Roland Massimino and JC Campbell making up the scoring lineup. Connor Chesky and Kyle Vance will also be competing in the tournament as individuals.
"We look forward to playing at Missouri this week," said K-State head coach Grant Robbins. "It is a golf course that sets up well for our team and the conditions should be similar to what we have practiced in the last couple of weeks. I know the guys are excited to get back at it and are ready for the challenge."
The Wildcats last competed two weeks ago in the K-State BIGHORN Invitational in Palm Desert, California. Massimino tied for 33rd in the event at 3-over par 219, while Fernandez tied for 42nd place after a successful third round that consisted of six birdies.
Chesky competed in his first event of the season at the BIGHORN Invitational. Competing as an individual, he led the team as he tied for 29th at 1-over par 217.
Joining K-State and host school Missouri in the field are Central Arkansas, Creighton, Drake, Illinois State, IUPUI, Loyola, Missouri State, Morehead State, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts, Seattle, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois and UMKC.
