Nov 17, 2020 | Soccer
MANHATTAN, Kansas – Kansas State soccer head coach Mike Dibbini has added Pittsburgh transfer midfielder/defender Rebecca Bartosh to the 2021 roster. Bartosh will join K-State at the start of the second semester and begin her eligibility with the Wildcats as a junior.
"Rebecca brings experience and more depth to our backline," said Dibbini about the program's first player from Canada. "Her pace and ability to use both feet for services will be helpful to our program.
Bartosh, a product of Hiawatha First Nations, Ontario, Canada, has played over 500 minutes and close to 20 matches in her collegiate career. She was credited with her first career assist this season and owns three shots including one on goal during her time at Pitt.
In her prep career at Thomas A. Stewart, she helped the squad to an 8-0 record and the Central Ontario Secondary Schools Association (COSSA) Regional Championship for the first time in school history. In the title-clinching match, Bartosh had a hand in all four goals, as she scored a hat trick and assisted on the fourth.
She also played club soccer for the Toronto Blizzard for coach Joe Parolini. She was named co-captain in 2018-19 and selected as a Third Team league all-star.
In 2017, Bartosh scored the game-winning goal in the U21 Ontario Cup championship game for the Blizzard and also played for Team Ontario in the Montreal Series.
K-State capped its Big 12-only schedule with a record of 3-6-0. This marked the most wins in league play since the program started as a member of the Big 12 in 2017.
The Wildcats, winners of three of their final five matches, also clinched a seventh-place finish in the league standings which marked its highest finish in the league standings.
