2009 Cross Country - After not competing in the first three events for the Wildcats, he ran his first collegiate race at the Pre-National Invitational (10/17) where he led his Wildcat teammates with a 31st-place finish and an 8K time of 26:13.3... Continued his success and led his teammates for a second consecutive meet at the Big 12 Championships (10/31), crossing the finish line in 74th-place and stopping the watch at 27:08.79.
High School - Won state championship in 3,200M as a sophomore and junior and finished second as a senior... finished second three times in the 1,600M... won cross country state title senior year.
Personal - Son of Thomas and Lori O'Connell... has two sisters.
