K-State Ends Trip to Texas with Loss

AUSTIN, Texas – On a sunny Sunday afternoon at Mike A. Myers Stadium, Kansas State was unable to register its first win over a ranked opponent as (17) Texas downed the Wildcats, 4-0. This was K-State's second loss this season by a four-goal margin.
Texas (13-2-2, 5-2-1 Big 12) grabbed the first goal of the match, as the Longhorns scored in the 36th minute. Texas forced a K-State turnover just beyond the 18-yard box. Cyera Hintzen dished to Alexa Adams. Adams gathered the ball and fended off a K-State defender. Adams uncorked a left-footed shot from the left side of the 18-yard box and found the far side netting. It was the only shot on goal for the Longhorns in the opening half.
K-State (4-11-2, 0-8-0) trailed Texas in total shots, 6-4, and were equal in shots on goal at one each. The Longhorns held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks. K-State's lone shot on goal in the opening stanza came from Christina Baxter, who fired her attempt from just outside the 18.
The Longhorns picked up an insurance goal in the 68th minute. Julia Grosso was able to fire off a right-footed shot from 17 yards out, which finished into the lower right corner of the K-State goal.
Grosso registered her second goal of the match in the 75th minute. Grosso again scored unassisted, as she maneuvered into the 18-yard box and fired off a left-footed shot from the middle of the box and finishing into the lower right corner.
In the 84th minute, Atu Mshana found Haley Berg with a long pass. Berg chested the ball down, then fired from 19 yards in the middle of the field and found the lower left corner of the goal.
Texas held the advantage in total shots (15-7) shots on goal (5-3) and corner kicks (13-1).
With the loss, K-State has lost a school record eight straight matches. The Wildcats have also dropped 13 consecutive Big 12 matches. Kansas State has been shutout a school-record 10 times this season.
