Werremeyer Tabbed for TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week

MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State goalkeeper Alaina Werremeyer has added a second honor for her stellar performance last weekend, as she has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week.
This is the third time a K-State goalkeeper has earned the honor from TopDrawerSoccer.com and Werremeyer is the second Wildcat goalkeeper in program history to earn the distinction, joining Peyton Pearson who collected the honor twice in the 2020-21 season.
Werremeyer, a sophomore from Blue Springs, Missouri, helped the Wildcats secure its first two positive results against ranked opponents in the history of the program.
In the two matches, Werremeyer registered a total of 22 saves on 38 shots faced and allowed just one goal in 220 total minutes between the pipes last weekend. Against ninth-ranked West Virginia, Werremeyer tallied nine saves on 17 total shots and allowed one goal.Â
Against 23rd-ranked Baylor, Werremeyer recorded a school record 13 saves on 21 total shots faced. Among her 13 saves, Werremeyer's biggest of the day came on a penalty shot in the 82nd minute preserving the shutout. With the result, she registered her third shutout of the season.
In her last three games in goal, a span of 318:21 of game time, Werremeyer has surrendered just two goals (0.56 goals against average) while facing 57 total shots and making 32 saves.
This season, Werremeyer leads the Big 12 in saves (64) and saves per game (5.82). Her 64 saves are a new career season-high, as well as her three wins and three shutouts.
K-State begins a three-match road trip with a two-match swing through the state of Oklahoma. The Wildcats will face Oklahoma State on Thursday, October 14, at 7 p.m., in Stillwater. The match will air on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.Â
