MANHATTAN, Kansas - K-State will play a two-match exhibition schedule, as the Wildcats will face South Dakota State on Thursday at 6 p.m., in Brookings, South Dakota. K-State will return to Manhattan to host Wyoming on Sunday at 1 p.m. Thursday's match will be stream on Jackrabbits All-Access (subscription required). • K-State returns 18 letter winners and 85 percent of the goal scorers from 2020, including 2021 Preseason All-Big 12 selection Brookelynn Entz who led the Wildcats with seven goals and 15 total points.
• In addition to the returners, the Wildcats also welcome in 14 newcomers for the 2021 season.
• The Wildcats' 2021 schedule officially begins on Thursday, August 19, as K-State hosts Weber State. K-State will play four matches against 2020 NCAA Tournament participants. The non-conference schedule also includes a pair of matches against Big Ten opponents, Purdue and Indiana, during the weekend of Sept. 9.
Odds and Ends from the 2020 Season
• Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kansas State soccer played a split schedule for the 2020 season. The Wildcats concluded a Big 12-only fall schedule with a record of 3-6-0 and ended the season with an overall record of 3-9-2.Â
• The Wildcats set the school record for Big 12 wins and achieved its highest final standing in the league with a seventh-place finish.
• Overall, Kansas State registered 13 goals and 10 assists.
• K-State's point leader for the 2020 season was midfielder Brookelynn Entz with 15 (seven goals, one assist).  Maddie Weichel was second in points with four (one goal and two assists). Weichel led the Wildcats in assists.
• Entz became the program's first candidate for the MAC Hermann Trophy and the Senior CLASS Award. She also garnered her second straight All-Big 12 selection, as she was a 2020 All-Big 12 First Team pick from the league's coaches.
• K-State placed 15 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 teams including 14 Academic All-Big 12 First Team selections.
• K-State won multiple Big 12 home matches for the first time in its history.
• Kansas State ended a 14-match Big 12 road losing streak with a 2-0 win at Iowa State on October 30. The road win also snapped an overall 16-match road losing streak.
• K-State set the school record for goals in a Big 12 season with 10 and the record for goals per game in Big 12 play, 1.11.
• The Wildcats set the school record for total points (26) and points per game (2.89) in a Big 12 season. This was the first time K-State surpassed 20 points in a Big 12 season.Â
• Kansas State set the school record for goals in a Big 12 match with three against Oklahoma on October 16.
• K-State set the school record for goals in a first half in a Big 12 match (2, twice) and tied the school record for second half goals in a Big 12 match (2, at Iowa State).Â
• The Wildcats ranked sixth in the Big 12 in goals and goals per game.
• K-State set the school record for assists (6) and assists per game (0.67 apg) in a Big 12 season.
• Kansas State tied the school record for assists in a Big 12 match with two against Oklahoma and Texas Tech.
• Senior Brookelynn Entz set the school record for goals in a season (7), goals in Big 12 matches (5), goals scored by a senior and points in a season (15).
• Freshman Maddie Weichel was the first K-State freshman to score a goal since August 19, 2018.
• For the first time in program history, K-State used three goalkeepers in a season. All three of the keepers, Cameron Illingworth, Peyton Pearson and Alaina Werremeyer, were freshmen and made their collegiate debuts.
• K-State recorded multiple shutouts in a Big 12 season for the first time.
• Werremeyer became the first K-State freshman goalkeeper to register a win. She was also the first K-State freshman goalkeeper to earn a shutout.
• Pearson was the first K-State freshman goalkeeper to record a shut out and a win in her career debut.
2021 Roster Items
• K-State and head coach Mike Dibbini will carry 33 players on its 2021 roster.
• The Wildcats feature three seniors (Brookelynn Entz [graduate], Emily Crain and Maguire Sullivan) and 10 juniors. Entz will be the first player in program history to play five seasons, as she is utilizing a fifth-season of eligibility granted by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic that affected the entire 2020 season.
• Overall, K-State returns 18 letter winners and 85 percent of the goal scorers from 2020.
• K-State added 14 newcomers, including nine freshmen, in the offseason. The players join the program from the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri and  Texas.
• Five of the newcomers join the program with collegiate experience, as Rebecca Bartosh (Pittsburgh), Aliyah El-Naggar (Ohio State), Porter List (Wisconsin), Jesse Loren (Colorado) and Roo Yarnell-Williams (Colorado) all saw action at previous NCAA Division I schools.Â
Sister Act
• It is not your imagination, the K-State soccer roster has three sets of sisters for the 2021 season.
• The sister trio is: the Gillispies (Keila and Kenzi), the Pearsons (Peyton and Presli) and the Weichels (Maddie and Marisa).
• In its history, the Wildcat program has featured four sets of sisters with the trio for the 2021 season as well as the Fisers (Abbey and Kelcy) during the 2016 campaign.
