MANHATTAN, Kansas - K-State (3-11-3, 1-7-1 Big 12) ends the 2023 season with its in-state rival, as the Wildcats visit Kansas (3-8-6, 0-7-2) for the Dillons Sunflower Showdown at 7 p.m., on Monday night at Rock Chalk Park.
• The Wildcats will look to snap a six-match road winless streak (0-5-1).
• Monday's match will air on Big 12 Now on ESPN+, as Josh Klingler (play-by-play) and Laura Jackson (analyst) will have the call.
Last Time Out
• K-State closed out its 2023 home schedule by dropping a pair of one-goal matches - against West Virginia (1-0) on October 12 and against Iowa State (2-1) on October 15.
• With its 1-0 loss to West Virginia, K-State was held scoreless for the 11th time this season, equaling the school record for shutouts against in a season.
• Against Iowa State, freshman Jo Sees recorded her third goal of the season and her first in Big 12 action. With her seven points (3 goals, 1 assist) this season, Sees paces the Wildcats in the category and is tied for the team lead in goals scored.
• At the conclusion of the match against the Cyclones, K-State honored its seven seniors: Aliyah El-Naggar, Keila Gillispie, Porter List, Erin Morrissey, Kiran Singh, Maddie Weichel and Alaina Werremeyer.
Adding to the Record Book
• K-State has added several new entries to the program's record book during the 2023 season.
• The Wildcats have tied the school record for draws in a season (3).
• K-State set the school record for consecutive shutout minutes, 416:44 of game action, which came in four plus matches from August 17 to Aug. 31. Sophomore goalkeeper Murphy Sheaff was responsible for all 416:44 of the shutout streak, setting the school record for consecutive shutout minutes by one goalkeeper.
• The Wildcats have allowed the lowest opponent shots on goal percentage in school history (.351).
• Senior Aliyah El-Naggar set the school record for game-tying goals in a career with two. She was the first Wildcat with at least one game-tying goal in two different seasons.
• Senior Kiran Singh became the fifth player in program history to register two or more assists in a match, earning the distinction in the season-opener at Green Bay on August 17. Singh is tied for sixth in school history for assists in a single season with three helpers this season.
• Junior Jazmin Brown and freshman Jo Sees have each scored three goals and are tied for eighth in school history for goals in a single-season.
• Brown tied the school record for goals in a single match with two in the season-opener at Green Bay on August 17.
• Sees owns three goals in her debut season and is tied for second in school history for goals in a freshman season. Her seven points are fourth in a freshman season. Sees is tied for third in school history for shots on goal (10) in a freshman season and is tied for fifth for total shots (19).Â
• Freshman Morgan Struttmann is third in school history for total shots (27) in a freshman season.
Shot Prevention is Goal Prevention
• K-State has prevented opponent shots on goal in the 2023 season.
• The Wildcats have limited its foes to 5.8 shots on goal per game and a shots on goal percentage of .351. The shots on goal percentage would be the lowest in a season allowed in program history, surpassing the previous best of .405 in 2017.
• In three  matches, K-State has allowed two shots on goal in each of those matches.
• K-State's 2022 version of the defensive backline was one of the best defensive units in the seven seasons of the program. The Wildcats allowed 5.5 shots on goal per game.
• The 5.5 shots on goal allowed per game in the 2022 season were 1.1 less than the previous record low of 6.6 shots on goal allowed per game in 2018.
• K-State's 1.26 goals against average last season was the second-lowest in program history.
Punching the Time Card
• Seniors Maddie Weichel and Aliyah El-Naggar and junior Kenzi Gillispie have been mainstays in the K-State lineup during their time in the Little Apple.
• Weichel is tied for third in school history for career matches played with 68. She is tied for sixth in school history for games started with 50.
• Gillispie is just ahead of Weichel for career starts with 54 and ranks fourth in school history for career starts and is 10th for career matches played. Gillispie has started 54 consecutive matches since debuting against Weber State in the season-opener on Aug. 19, 2021. This is the longest current streak among the 2023 roster.
• El-Naggar is 10th in school history for career starts with 45.Â
• Gillispie (4,595; 3rd), Weichel (4,141; 6th) and El-Naggar (3,853; 8th) rank among the top-10 in school history for career minutes played. Gillispie and Weichel are two of seven players in program history to have played over 4,000 minutes in their K-State careers.
• Gillispie owns the school record for minutes played in a season (1,666), establishing the mark in the 2022 season.
All That Jaz
• Centerback Jazmin Brown put her name on the 2023 K-State scoring ledger and registered her first Big 12 tally.
• Against Houston on October 5, Brown headed in a corner kick for her first career game-winning goal and her first goal in Big 12 play.
• In the season-opener at Green Bay, the Gilbert, Arizona, product, procured her first collegiate goal in the 19th minute on a corner service from Kiran Singh. Brown headed the pass in for her first goal.
• Brown notched her second goal in the 81st minute. The second tally was a mirror image of the first, with a service on a corner from Singh and Brown headed the orb into the net.
• Brown is the first K-State defender to score two or more goals in a match.
• Brown was the second K-State player to score two or more goals in a season-opener, joining Katie Cramer in 2019.
• This season, Brown has played 1526 of a possible 1530 minutes and owns a career-high 15 shots with nine on goal and is tied for the team lead in goals with three.
Jazmin on the Back Line
• Centerback Jazmin Brown continues to be a staple along the K-State backline.
• This season, Brown has played 1,526 of a possible 1,530 minutes this season. Brown ranks 10th in school history for minutes played in a single season.
• In the last two seasons, Brown has played a total of 3,002 minutes which is 92.7 percent (3,240:00) of the available minutes in the last 36 matches K-State has played.
• Among field players in the 2022 season, Brown was fourth on the team and first among freshmen in minutes played with 1,476 during her 19 matches played and 18 starts.
• Among freshmen in program history, Brown was the ninth freshman to surpass the 1,000 minutes played mark and set the school record for minutes played in their debut season.
We Sees You, Jo
• Freshman forward Jo Sees is atop of K-State's scoring ledger this season.
• Sees is tied for the team lead in goals with three and leads the squad for points with seven. She would be the first freshman since Brookelynn Entz in 2017 to lead K-State in points.
• Her seven points are fourth-most in a freshman season in program history.
• Sees is the third K-State freshman in program history to score three or more goals.
• Sees, a forward from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, subbed into the August 24 match against UTSA at the 40th minute of the match. Just 33 seconds later, Sees tapped in a rebound to give K-State a 1-0 lead. Just 37 seconds after the goal, Sees assisted on K-State's second goal of the night. Her goal would eventually be the game-winner, the first of her career.
• Against Green Bay in the season-opener on August 17, Sees registered the fourth-latest goal in school history and the second-latest regulation goal with a redirection at 89:47 for her first collegiate goal.
Baker the Goal Maker
• Riley Baker continues to contribute to K-State's attack in her junior season, as she has established a career season-high for assists (2).
• Baker notched an assist on Maddie Weichel's goal against Oral Roberts, Baker's first of the season.
• She added her second assist of the season by aiding on the goal scored by Jo Sees against Iowa State.
• The forward from Flower Mound, Texas, leads the Wildcats in total shots (33) and shots on goal (12). She has established a new career-high for shots and shots on goal in a season.
• Last season, Baker established new career season-highs for matches played (17), goals (2) and points (4).
• In her career, Baker owns three goals, three assists and nine points. She has 63 career shots and 28 shots on goal (.444 SOG%). Baker's 28 shots on goal ranks sixth in school history for a career.
