FROM THE HEAD COACH
K-State Head Coach Mike Dibbini
On starting strong in the first half…
"In the first half, the shots were six to six. And then, in the second half, we just didn't have that same momentum, same level of intensity in the attack. They scored that one goal to find separation, and they kind of got comfortable there, and we just couldn't find a way to get it back."
On playing the way they wanted to play and taking long-ball chances…
"Little bit of both. I mean, the direct play from us was because their pressure was so high. We didn't want to get dispossessed in our back half, so we intentionally played the ball. Started our possession higher, which worked really, really well in the first half. In the second half, we couldn't break that pressure as much. They had some chances. We dodged some opportunities from them, but I felt like we just didn't have the same energy and intensity in the second half."
On being in a good position for 2025…
"We will only lose three seniors. We have a lot of experience now coming back. We were decimated by some key, season-ending injuries that really put us back a couple of steps. We had some depth that came in and helped secure those positions, in terms of just giving us more depth. I think we have a good thing going forward. I thought we played a lot better this year than we have. The results may not have shown it, but the body of work has definitely shown in terms of possession, shots on goal, etc. So the numbers are increasing. We just have to work on the results now."
