MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State owned possession for much of Sunday's match and the Wildcats came away with a 1-1 draw with UCF at Buser Family Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- UCF (3-2-4, 1-1-2 Big 12) knotted the match at one in the 71st minute. A scramble for a loose ball at the top of K-State's 18-yard box resulted in UCF's Mia Asenjo finding possession at 17 yards on the right post. Her shot attempt skimmed the grass and found the net just inside the left post.
- K-State ended the afternoon with a 20-11 advantage in total shots and a 7-5 edge in shots on goal.

FROM THE HEAD COACH
K-State Head Coach Mike Dibbini
On keeping possession of the ball for the majority of the match…
"You know, just play the way we're capable of playing. Focus on us, things that we need to do to be successful. I felt like we had a good game plan, we prepared well. I thought 89 minutes we were solid, effective, we just fell asleep for a minute. But overall, that was a good game."

On putting energy into the ball for 90 minutes…
"Yeah absolutely. I thought we did a really nice job defensively and adding pressure. We had waves of players coming in, continuing that pressure. It was a tough one because we felt like we controlled the match, and you know this game can be cruel at times, and today was cruel to us."

On Adah Anderson coming off the bench and scoring the goal…
"It was a really good buildup, finding the right players. [Morgan] Struttman did a good job of finding Adah running through vertically and Adah did a good job of putting it away for us."

On getting more players towards the box to score…
"Yeah we've been working a little bit on our combination play in the final third and we saw a little bit of that today. We need to do a little bit better job of cutting the ball back a little bit more instead of square. But I thought overall we had our chances today, especially when you see 20 shots on goal."

FROM THE FIELD
K-State Senior Midfielder Adah Anderson
On trailing the play to score…
"I mean honestly yeah, just trying to get shots up. We've kind of struggled with that and so that was really a focus. And I think that stat line, at least at halftime, I don't know what it was at the end of the game, we did a really good job putting shots up. So just trying to find a way even though I was probably not supposed to go up that high, I kind of wanted to get a goal for us and it worked."

On scoring for the first time since 2022…
"Yes, a little bit. I did not get one last year and so I wanted to end my senior season on a high, help this team win and succeed. And so I was able to do that today, so it felt really good."

On possessing the ball for more than 66 percent of the game…
"We know we're a good team. We know we can possess well and we thought we matched up really well against them with the style of play we've been doing. And we really just wanted to own the game and I think we did. We just couldn't get the result. The process is really going well. We had the objective to get shots up and we did, so, I'm excited to see how this is going to keep going and lead us into the rest of Big 12 play."
