Athlete Q&A
How is rowing different than other sports you've been involved in?
Rowing is by far harder than any other sports that I have done previously. Rowing requires a much tougher person, both in mind and body. With every race, boundaries are being pushed. It is much like swimming, race wise, but being in a boat with other women changes things. You want to do your best because you know that they want to do the best as well. You want to push yourself, because you know they are pushing.
What is your favorite memory from this past season?
I would have to say that my favorite memory from this past season happened at winter training camp. During our last practice, our coxswain, Hillary, played music while we were rowing. It was cool because it was close to the first time that our boat actually synced.
What keeps you coming back to the team each year?
I keep coming back to the team each year because of the girls on the team. Some of my closest friends are on the team. There is a connection that has been built, and it just gets stronger each year. There is something to be said for "dying" together that makes the friendships closer.
