Athlete Q&A
Why did you choose K-State?
After my initial visit to K-State, I found the city of Manhattan and the University to be extremely friendly and welcoming. I fell in love with a Big 12 School that had a small town feel. K-State is truly one big family and it was the best decision that I could have made when deciding on a college to attend.
How is rowing different than other sports you've been involved in?
I have found rowing to be the most mentally and physically challenging sport that I have ever participated in. It tests your capabilities on a whole new level and pushes your body to unimaginable depths. Rowing requires will power, endurance, strength, consistency, and dedication. When you are past the point of exhaustion and you feel like your body is about to give out, rowing calls for you to fight through the pain, push harder, and keep going.
How do you balance school, rowing, a job, and a social life?
As a student athlete, I learned early on that I would need to plan out each of my days accordingly so that I may be successful. Every day, I organize my entire schedule down to the hour to ensure that I have time to study, complete homework, finish my workouts, and spend time with God. By setting priorities and tasks, I am able to do all of these things as well as other fun things on the side. It definitely isn't easy, but I have found that the more organized I am, the more likely I am to accomplish my goals.
