K-State Soccer Hosts Omaha in 2017 Home Opener

MANHATTAN, Kansas - For the first time in program history, K-State soccer will play a home game in the month of August as the Wildcats host Omaha at 7 p.m., on Wednesday. Standing room only tickets for Wednesday's match are available.

• Wednesday night's match will be available on COX Channel Kansas and K-StateHD.TV, as Brian Smoller (play-by-play) and Oscar Montenegro (color analyst) handle the call. An audio broadcast of the match will also be available on 101.5 KROCK in Manhattan and kstatesports.com.
• K-State won the first meeting between the schools, 1-0, on Sept. 4, 2016, in Omaha.
• The Wildcats are 2-1-1 in matches played at the K-State Soccer Complex including a current three-match unbeaten streak and a current two-match winning streak. 

Oral Roberts Match in Review
• K-State finished its season-opening three-match road trip with a 1-1-1 record following a 1-0 win at Oral Roberts on Aug. 24. This is the second straight season K-State has registered a 1-1-1 record after the first three matches of the season.
• The Wildcats tallied their first goal of the season, as redshirt junior defender Haley Sutter finished off a rebound chance after a Laramie Hall shot in the seventh minute.
• Senior goalkeeper Miranda Larkin tallied her second shutout of the season and the seventh of her K-State career with five saves against the Golden Eagles.

Omaha at a Glance
• Omaha (0-3-0) will look to snap a three-match skid to open the 2017 season following a 2-0 home loss to Northern Iowa on Aug. 25.
• On the sidelines, the Mavericks are led by first year head coach Tim Walters. Prior to being named the head coach, Walters served as an assistant with the Omaha men's program.
• Omaha is led in points by Natalie Johnson with one goal this season.

Scoreless Streaks Halted
• With its first goal of 2017 in the seventh minute at Oral Roberts, Kansas State ended a trio of scoreless streaks. 
• The Wildcats ended the longest scoreless stretch to open a season at 206:41. 
• K-State also ended an overall scoreless streak of last scored a goal in a match, 575:09 to be precise or just over seven matches. 
• The Wildcats also snapped a road scoreless streak of 655:38, almost seven road matches in total.

Sutter Claims Earliest & Second Earliest Goals in Program History
• Redshirt junior defender/midfielder Haley Sutter can now lay claim to the two earliest goals in K-State soccer history.
• The product of Overland Park, Kansas, registered K-State's first goal of the 2017 season with a rebound goal at the 6:41 mark of the first half at Oral Roberts.
• The goal was the second of Sutter's career and came on her first shot of the season.
• At Little Rock on Sept. 11, 2016, Sutter scored the earliest goal in program history checking in at 1:03 of the match by intercepting a pass in the Trojans' backfield and beat the keeper from 15 yards to the right post.
• The goal by the Overland Park, Kansas, product came on her third shot of the season and her second on goal.
• In the early stages of the program, Sutter now ranks tied for third in career goals scored with two and tied for third in career points with four.

Larkin Owns K-State Record for Shutouts
• Senior goalkeeper Miranda Larkin has been one of the top keepers in the Big 12 in the first two weeks of the season.
• Larkin has pocketed a pair of shutouts in K-State's first three matches of the season, helping the Wildcats to a 1-1-1 record.
• After the first two weekends of the season, Larkin leads the Big 12 in saves per game (6.67), total saves (20) and save percentage (.909). She is tied for second in the league in shutouts with two and her goals against average ranks sixth (0.62). 
• Larkin kept Oregon State off the scoreboard for 110 minutes on Aug. 18 with eight saves and tallied her sixth shutout at K-State and the seventh of her career. Larkin is the K-State career record holder for shutouts with six. Her eight saves against Oregon State are the most by a Big 12 goalkeeper this season.
• In the 2016 season, Larkin was responsible for the only five shutouts in program history. She finished with 77 saves and tallied a season-high for shutout minutes at 243:52. She ranked 23rd in the nation in save percentage (.856), 74th in goals against average at 0.835 and 117th in the nation in shutouts.
• Larkin made her first K-State start against SIUE on Aug. 21. This was the first live match action the Rockwall, Texas, native had seen since Nov. 1, 2013, against Kansas in the Big 12 Championship as a member of the Oklahoma Sooners. 
• Larkin backstopped the Wildcats with her second career shutout and a then career-high six saves in K-State's 0-0 double overtime draw at SIUE.
• At Oakland on Aug. 26, Larkin made five saves to register her first win at K-State and the second of her collegiate career. It was her first win since Aug. 25, 2013 against Kennesaw State.

Hall Works Hard
• Sophomore midfielder/defender Laramie Hall has adjusted well to a new position in her second season in Manhattan.
• In the 2016 season, Hall played in all 16 matches with eight starts and played midfield or forward in those matches. She tied for the team lead in goals scored with three and was second on the team in total points with nine. She led the team in shots on goal percentage (.556; min. 10 shots).
• This season, the native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, has played along the defensive back line or in the midfield.
• She registered the first assist of the 2017 season for K-State, firing a shot from distance at Oral Roberts that the goalkeeper mishandled and was rebounded by Haley Sutter.
• Hall ranks tied for first in program history for career points with 10 and career assists with four.
