MANHATTAN, Kansas - For the first time in program history, Kansas State will open a soccer season at the K-State Soccer Complex as the Wildcats begin their third season this weekend. The Wildcats host Saint Louis on Friday, August 17, at 7 p.m., and Oakland on Sunday, August 19, at 12 p.m. Tickets are available by contacting the K-State Athletics Ticket Office at (800) 221-CATS or by visiting www.kstatesports.com/tickets.

• Friday's match is Teacher Appreciation Day, as any teacher may purchase one ticket and get one free with a teacher ID. Also, the first 500 fans will receive a stadium cup with the 2018 home schedule.
• Sunday's match is Sunday Family Day and will feature a free postgame youth clinic and team autographs on the field. A $38 Family 4-Pack is available for the match, which includes four general admission tickets and four $10 concessions vouchers.
• Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN3 and available on 101.5 KROCK in Manhattan and kstatesports.com.
• In 2017, Kansas State women's soccer concluded its second season and its first in the Big 12 with a record of 6-11-1 and a league mark of 1-8-0. The six wins set a new program-high, surpassing the four victories from the inaugural season.
• K-State secured the first Big 12 win in program history on Friday, October 6, at Kansas, a 1-0 decision.
• Overall, Kansas State returns 98 percent of its point scorers from last season including 100 percent of the goals scored from 2017.
• The leading goal scorer at the conclusion of the 2017 season was midfielder Brookelynn Entz with a school record five goals. Forward Hannah Davis led the team in assists with a school record five.
• Davis became the first Wildcat in program history to receive Big 12 postseason recognition, as she was selected to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team.

Saint Louis at a Glance
• Saint Louis (0-0-0) finished the 2017 season with a 15-3-2 overall record including a 7-2-1 mark in the Atlantic 10.
• On the sidelines, the Bilikens are guided by sixth year head coach Katie Shields. During her time in St. Louis, Shields owns a 51-36-9 (.578) record.
• The Billikens are led by top returning scorer, midfielder/defender Olivia Petit and defender Alli Klug. Petit, the 2017 A-10 Rookie of the Year registered eight goals and four assists for 20 total points. Klug was recently named to the 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, the Heisman Trophy of women's collegiate soccer.

Oakland at a Glance
• Oakland (0-0-0) visits K-State on Sunday after opening the season at UMKC on Friday night.
• Oakland recorded a 3-14-1 overall record in 2017 including a 3-6-0 mark in the Horizon League.
• The Golden Grizzlies are led by first year head coach Juan Pablo Favero. Favero owns a 161-126-41 (.553) career record as a head coach.
• Oakland returns two of the program's top-3 scorers from last season in Ali Amante and Lauren Bos. Each tallied five points in the 2017 season.

The Secret Letter is 'O'
• In an ironic twist in Kansas State's schedules in the first two seasons of the program, the Wildcats will have played seven of the 11 NCAA Division I schools that start with an 'O,' with Ohio, Ohio State, Old Dominion and Ole Miss remaining.
• Overall, K-State owns a 4-3-2 record against schools that begin with the letter 'O.'
• In 2016, K-State secured the program's first win and the school record for goals in a match with a 6-0 win over Oakland.

Odds and Ends from the Second Season
• For the second straight season, Kansas State reached double figures in road matches with 10 in 2017. K-State finished with a 3-6-1 record in road matches, a new program record for road wins.
• The Wildcats set a new program record for home victories, going 3-4-0 at the K-State Soccer Complex in 2017.
• Overall, K-State was outscored by its opponents 23-18, a -5 goal differential. This was the second straight season K-State has trailed by a difference of five or fewer goals (19-16, -3 in 2016).
• K-State set a program-high with five multi-goal games in 2017. In the inaugural season, the Wildcats registered three.
• K-State improved its shots on goal percentage from 2016 to 2017 by 5.7 percent, from .400 to .457. K-State also lowered its opponent shots on goal percentage from .466 to .405.
• For the second straight season, 11 different players recorded at least one goal. Six of K-State's 2017 goal scorers notched their first career collegiate goal (Christina Baxter, Hannah Davis, Brookelyn Entz, Avery Green, Megan Kalkofen and Maddie Souder).
• The Wildcats posted five shutouts for the second straight season, as redshirt senior goalkeeper Miranda Larkin pocketed all five.
• For the first time in program history, K-State registered an above .500 month, as the Wildcats notched a 2-1-1 record in August. For the second straight year, K-State outscored its opponents in the month of August, 3-2. In the last two seasons, K-State has outscored its opponents 10-7 in August matches.
• K-State finished the 2017 season ranked sixth in the nation for average attendance with 1,688 fans per match.
• Kansas State will enter the 2018 season looking to end a five-match losing streak.
• Kansas State had two players start and play in every game in the 2017 season: defenders Megan Kalkofen and Haley Sutter. Only four players have played in all 34 games in program history: Kalkofen, Tatum Wagner, Laramie Hall and Ashley Zane. Kalkofen is the only player to start every game.

Dibbini In Third Season at K-State
• K-State announced the formation of its women's soccer program on Oct. 12, 2014. With the task of building a program from the ground up, K-State announced on Dec. 26, 2014, that Mike Dibbini would be the first head coach in program history.
• Dibbini has seen success at every stage of his coaching career. He owns a 275-98-35 (.717) career mark, including a 10-20-4 (.353) mark at K-State.
• Prior to coming to K-State, Dibbini spent eight seasons at Kansas Wesleyan (NAIA) and two seasons at Cal Poly Pomona (NCAA D-II).

Purple Pitch
• Kansas State has played just 12 home matches in its 34-game history, but have felt comfortable at the K-State Soccer Complex.
• The Wildcats are 5-6-1 at home, including a school record four-match home field winning streak and a five-match unbeaten streak which spanned the end of the 2016 home schedule and the start of the 2017 home slate.
• In the 12 home matches, the Wildcats have outscored opponents, 17-14 (+3).
