Signed as an undrafted free agent with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2016.
SENIOR (2016)
After going through an injury-shortened season in 2015, MaVorhis turned in a stellar senior season as he led the team in strikeouts and K:BB ratio … In 14 games (all starts), the right-hander was 6-5 with a 4.20 ERA (39er, 83.2ip), 76 strikeouts and 15 walks … His career-high 76 punchouts were the most by a K-State pitcher since 2012 … Finished the regular season 5th in the Big 12 in strikeouts and 4th in innings pitched … Had a 5.1 K:BB ratio … 6 quality starts … Won his first 2 starts of the season, including his first outing of the year on February 21 at UC Riverside when he held the Highlanders scoreless over 7 innings … Struck out 12 on March 13 vs. Milwaukee, becoming the 7th K-State pitcher since 2000 to have 12 or more strikeouts in a game … It was the most strikeouts by a Wildcat since 2011 … Also did not walk any batters during the March 13 outing, making him the first Wildcat to strike out 10 or more with no walks since 2005 (Adam Cowart) … In his final 4 starts of the season, he posted a 3.28 ERA (9er, 24.2ip) with 20 strikeouts and a .239 batting average against but had a 1-2 record … Threw 8 innings in each of his last 2 starts … Earned the win on Senior Day on May 14 vs. KU, holding the Jayhawks to 2 runs on 6 hits and no walks while striking out 5 … Complete game on May 20 vs. No. 11 TCU (8.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 8 K, 118 pitches) … In Big 12 games, he was 3-5 with a 5.26 ERA (30er, 51.1ip), 37 strikeouts and 9 walks in 8 starts.
JUNIOR (2015)
In an injury-shortened season, MaVorhis appeared in 10 games, including 4 starts, and went 2-1 with a 6.20 ERA (17er, 24.2ip), 8 strikeouts, and 8 walks ... First 2 outings of the season were as a starter, including his season debut on February 14 vs. Pitt in which he threw 6.0 shutout innings and allowed 5 hits ... Allowed 6 runs, 5 earned, on 7 hits in 1 1/3 innings in a start vs. Oregon State on February 20 ... His following outing was in relief on March 8 vs. Santa Clara, allowing 2 hits and no runs in 2.0 innings ... Threw 3 1/3 shutout innings on April 3 vs. West Virginia, striking out 2 and walking 1 ... Tossed a season-high 7.0 innings on April 12 vs. No. 3 TCU, limiting the Horned Frogs to 2 runs on 7 hits in a win to clinch the series .. His final outing of the year was on April 21 at Nebraska … Allowed 3 runs on 1 hit and 3 walks in 1 1/3 innings as the starter against the Huskers.
2014 SUMMER LEAGUE
Played for the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod League ... Went 0-2 with a 4.76 ERA (18er, 34.0ip), 28 strikeouts, and 7 walks in 12 appearances (2 starts) ... Posted a 1.80 ERA (4er, 20.0ip) over his final 7 outings ... Did not allow a run in 3.0 innings pitched in a playoff game vs. Harwich ... Struck out 15 and did not walk any batters over his final 17 1/3 innings of the summer.
SOPHOMORE (2014)
Served as K-State's "Friday night" starter for all but one weekend and went 6-7 with a 3.95 ERA (37er, 84.1ip), 48 strikeouts, and 14 walks in his 15 appearances ... In his 13 starts, he was 5-7 with a 4.09 ERA (37er, 81.1ip), 44 strikeouts, and 13 walks ... Opponents hit .260 against as a starter ... His 2 relief appearances occurred in the final series of the season against Texas ... Threw on back-to-back days on May 17 and 18, allowing 1 unearned run in 3.0 combined innings ... His 84.1 innings pitched were the most by a K-State pitcher since 2011 ... Threw 7 quality starts ... Never walked more than 2 batters in a game, and had 1 walk or less in 12 of his 15 appearances ... Did not issue a walk in 4 appearances ... Tossed 2 shutouts, matching the K-State record for shutouts thrown in a single season ... Fanned a season-high 8 in a shutout on March 14 vs. Northern Colorado ... Carried a perfect game into the seventh inning, but he allowed a leadoff hit in the seventh ... Allowed 2 hits total in the game and faced just 1 over the minimum ... Held Kansas to 3 hits and no runs in a complete-game shutout on April 4 ... Had a perfect game going into the sixth inning, but he surrendered a leadoff single in the sixth ... Did not allow a run in 5.0 innings pitched while striking out 4 and walking none in his season debut on Feb. 14 at Cal Poly ... Struck out 8 in his first win of the season on Feb. 28 vs. Grand Canyon ... Won 3 straight starts from Feb. 28-March 14 ... Limited Baylor to 2 runs while scattering 7 hits over 8.0 innings on April 17 ... Threw a season-high 120 pitches in the outing against the Bears ... Struck out 4 in 2.0 shutout innings pitched on May 17 vs. No. 19 Texas.
2013 SUMMER LEAGUE
Played for the Rossville Rattlers ... Went 3-0 with a 2.61 ERA and 36 strikeouts against 3 walks in first 6 games.
FRESHMAN (2013)
Was 5-0 with a 4.77 ERA (29er, 54.2ip) in 23 games overall, including 6 starts ... Posted a 2.81 ERA (10er, 32.0ip) in 10 Big 12 games (4 starts), striking out 14 and walking 4 in 32.0 innings ... Struck out a career-high 4 in start on May 3 at Texas ... In first 16 relief appearances of the season, he had a 3.58 ERA with 17 strikeouts and 5 walks ... Allowed one unearned run in 4.0 innings - a career-high for a relief outing - on April 5 vs. Texas Tech.
HIGH SCHOOL
Lettered three years for Archbishop Murphy (WA) High School, playing under head coach Stan Taloff... Led the Wildcats to a 28-2 record and its first ever state championship in 2012 as a senior when he went 11-0 with a 1.65 ERA and 3 shutouts in 68 innings ... Also hit .437 with 9 doubles, 1 home run, 31 RBI and a .538 on-base percentage... Was named the conference's player of the year and the Washington Class 2A Player of the Year... Also earned MaxPreps All-America honors as a utility player... Led squad to an 18-1 mark and a league championship as a junior in 2011, while the Wildcats were 27-3 and earned both league and district championships in 2010.
