MEMPHIS, Tenn. – In its final preparation for Big 12 play, K-State squared off with seventh-ranked Memphis on Sunday morning at Billy J. Murphy Soccer Complex. After a evenly contested first half, the Tigers needed a pair of late goals to hold back the Wildcats, 2-0.

- In the 88th minute, the Tigers added an insurance goal as Alex Mackay scored from the top of the 18 with a low shot into the lower left corner.
- Memphis ended the morning with an 18-4 advantage in total shots, including an 8-2 edge in shots on goal. Sophomores Ryann Reynolds and Jo Sees each tallied a shot on goal.

FROM THE HEAD COACH
K-State Head Coach Mike Dibbini
On dictating the tempo of the first 15 minutes...
"They realized it was one of those matches that if you don't bring the non- negotiables they would be in for a long game. They got out with some high energy. They wanted to compete, and they gave all the effort they needed to give to compete with them for, basically, 85 minutes. We did a really good job today of competing."
On ability to stay in its big shape for its attack...
"I thought defensively, we did a good job, which started our attempt in our big shape. So both sides of the ball, we did well. But as far as our attack, especially in the first we did a really good job of moving the lines up a little bit and making sure our wing backs are getting a little bit higher, so that way, it forces their wing, their outside back to stay and stay home. They threw a curve ball at us and they played in a three-back. We prepped for them in a four-back. We adjusted pretty quick, but I thought we did a good job of creating some chances, and that was a very good team today."
On if he is encouraged by the result heading into Big 12 play...
"Absolutely. I think we showed a lot of character today and resilience and effort and the things that we need to do to get better in preparation for the Big 12. Memphis was fresh. They didn't play on Thursday, and we traveled and played two games this weekend. We showed a lot of progress moving forward."
