- Did not allow a run in 2 relief appearances in Super Regional at Oregon State
- Struck out a season-high 7 in his first start of the season on February 17 vs. George Mason
- Tossed a complete game on March 9 vs. Cal Poly, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits in K-State's 10-4 win
Freshman (2012)
- Was called upon 21 times as a freshman, including three starts, earning a 1-3 record and two saves with a 5.95 ERA
- Allowed just one run with three strikeouts in 2.2 innings at San Diego State on Feb. 25 before tossing two no-hit innings against Pacific on March 3
- Earned the win in a predetermined pitch-count start against Hartford on March 11 when he allowed two runs on three hits with six strikeouts in 4.1 innings
- Was dominant against No. 21 Texas on March 25 when he pitched three scoreless frames
- Picked up his first save against Sacred Heart on April 6 when he threw 3.2 scoreless innings with a career-best seven strikeouts
- Earned a tough-luck loss against No. 5 Baylor on April 15 when he allowed just one run with no walks and three strikeouts in three innings of work
- Pitched four scoreless innings against Wichita State on April 24
Downers Grove South HS: Lettered two years for the Mustangs under head coach Darren Orel... Went 5-5 with a 3.13 ERA as a senior and recorded 48 strikeouts in 47.0 innings, earning honorable mention all-state accolades... Also hit .454 with five home runs and 36 RBI... Led team to a regional championship as a senior and a conference championship as a junior.
Personal: Matthew Thomas Wivinis was born July 24, 1993, in Hinsdale, Ill... Son of Thomas and Lisa Wivinis... Has one brother, Tyler, who played baseball at College of DuPage.
