First meeting 


MANHATTAN, Kansas - K-State begins a five-match road trip, as the Wildcats visit Clarksville, Tennessee, for two matches. 
• On Friday, K-State will face host Austin Peay (0-2-0) at 7 p.m. This will be K-State's first meeting with Austin Peay and the second match against an opponent from the Ohio Valley Conference (SIUE, 2016). 
• On Sunday, the Wildcats will play the first neutral site match in program history as they tussle with North Alabama (0-1-1) at 1 p.m., at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field. This will be the first meeting between the schools.
• Friday's match will be available on ESPN+ (subscription required). Sunday's match can be followed through live stats at kstatesports.com.

Last Time Out
• K-State split the season-opening weekend at Buser Family Park (1-1-0).  
• The Wildcats dropped the season-opener against Weber State on August 19, 2-0. K-State outshot Weber State, 20-14, and held the edge in corner kicks, 6-2.
• Kansas State responded to the season-opening defeat with a 1-0 win over Omaha on August 22.
• Junior Marisa Weichel tallied her first K-State goal and the third of her collegiate career, tapping in from two yards out in the seventh minute.
• Sophomore Peyton Pearson, making her fifth career start between the pipes, pocketed her third career shutout with three saves on seven total shots faced. This was Pearson's second career win.
• K-State held a 45-21 (+24) advantage in total shots during the weekend. This marked the most shots in the first two matches of a season for the Wildcats and the largest positive margin, surpassing the +21 to begin the 2018 season.

Wildcats Make Debuts
• K-State's 2021 roster includes 14 newcomers including nine true freshmen. Of the 14 newcomers, five have collegiate soccer experience: Rebecca Bartosh (18 matches; Pitt), Porter List (10 matches; Wisconsin), Jesse Loren (47 matches; Colorado), Marisa Weichel (8 matches; Texas Tech) and Roo Yarnell-Williams (25 matches; Colorado). 
• Of the nine newcomers to collegiate soccer on the K-State roster, six made their debuts in the season-opener against Weber State: Kenzi Gillispie, Riley Baker, Juliann Kidd, Katy Coffin, Adah Anderson and Joey Lujan. 
• Gillispie was the only K-State freshman to start the first two matches of the 2021 season.
• During its brief history, K-State has seen one freshman score in a season-opener as Katie Cramer delivered the first goal in program history scoring directly on a corner kick at Saint Louis on August 19, 2016.

Sister Act
• It is not your imagination, the K-State soccer roster has three sets of sisters for the 2021 season.
• The sister trio is: the Gillispies (Keila and Kenzi), the Pearsons (Peyton and Presli) and the Weichels (Maddie and Marisa)
• In its history, the Wildcat program has featured four sets of sisters with the trio for the 2021 season as well as the Fisers (Abbey and Kelcy) during the 2016 campaign.
• The Weichels are the first set of K-State sisters to start the same match together. They are also the first set of K-State sisters to record at least one goal each at K-State.

Firing Range
• K-State came out firing to open the 2021 season.
• The Wildcats recorded 45 total shots in the two matches, 20 against Weber State and 25 against Omaha. The 25 shots against Omaha were the fourth-highest single-match total in program history and the most since K-State tallied 27 against Arkansas State on Aug. 29, 2019.
• This was the first time since Aug. 29-Sept. 1, 2019, in which K-State tallied 20 or more shots in consecutive matches.
• After the opening weekend of action, K-State leads the Big 12 in total shots and shots per game (22.5).

The Road Mostly Traveled
• Since the start of the program in 2016, K-State has played 46 matches away from Manhattan.
• K-State set a program best three-match road unbeaten streak (1-0-2) in the 2018 season. The stretch started with a 0-0 draw at San Jose State on September 2, continued with a second 0-0 draw at Indiana and the Wildcats picked up their first win in the stretch with a 3-0 decision at Tulsa on Sept. 16.
• Overall, the Wildcats are 7-30-9 in road matches in their history.
• In the 46 road matches, the Wildcats have been outscored by its opponents, 80-32 (-48).
• In 2017, K-State tallied a program best three road wins.

Pearson Pockets Shutouts
• Sophomore goalkeeper Peyton Pearson resumed her strong start to her career in goal for the Wildcats in her first start of 2021. 
• The product of Tulsa, Oklahoma, blanked Omaha on August 22 with three saves and capture the second win of her career.
• Pearson ranks third in program history for career shutouts (3).
• In the 2020 season, Pearson had 23 saves in the 2020 season with a save percentage of .885 and a goals against average of 0.77. She registered 205:45 consecutive shutout minutes to open her career.
• She tallied her first career win with a nine-save effort in a 2-0 win over Texas Tech on November 13, 2020. Pearson became the first Wildcat freshman goalkeeper to record a victory in her collegiate debut and the first freshman Wildcat goalkeeper to pocket a shutout in her collegiate debut. 
• With the effort, Pearson was named Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week, Big 12 Freshman of the Week and named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week.
• At Kansas on March 13, 2021, Pearson blanked the Jayhawks with five saves in a 0-0 draw.
• Pearson joined Miranda Larkin as the only goalkeepers in program history to record shutouts in their first two appearances between the pipes for K-State.
 
Winning Weichels
• Maddie and Marisa Weichel have joined forces with the Wildcats for the 2021 season with the duo contributing to K-State wins.
• Marisa Weichel registered her first K-State goal, tapping in against Omaha on August 22.
• When a Weichel records at least one point in a match, K-State is 3-0-1. 
• Maddie Weichel provided a spark to the K-State starting lineup in 2020, after being inserted into the starting 11 on October 16 against Oklahoma.
• Weichel was in the starting lineup in nine of K-State's last 10 matches and aided the Wildcats to three wins and two draws in the last 10 matches.
• Against Oklahoma on October 16, Weichel assisted on Kyler Goins's goal in the first half.
• In the 2020 season, Weichel was second on the squad with four points and led the team with two assists. She played in all 14 matches with nine starts and registered 995 minutes of action which was the most of any freshman in 2020.
• Against Texas Tech on Nov. 13, 2020, Maddie Weichel scored the insurance goal in the second half for her first career collegiate goal.

Gillispie Adds Helper in Win 
• Freshman defender Kenzi Gillispie used her head for her first career point.
• Gillispie, a product of Newton, Kansas, recorded an assist on the game-winning goal against Omaha on Aug. 22. She headed the ball down off a corner kick which resulted in a goal from Marisa Weichel in the seventh minute.
• Gillispie is the first K-State freshman to record an assist in the first two games of a season. She is the third freshman to record at least one point in the first two matches of the season, joining Katie Cramer and Chloe Fisher.
• During the opening weekend, Gillispie led the Wildcats in minutes played with 175 including all 90 against Weber State on Aug. 19.
