Junior (2012): A regular weekend starter that earned a 6-4 record with a 4.37 ERA in 16 appearances, including 15 starts... His ERA was tops among K-State's starters, while he limited opponents to a .278 batting average... Saved his best pitching for the end of the season as he allowed three or fewer earned runs in six or more innings during each of his final three starts of the regular season... Earned his first win at San Diego State on Feb. 25, when he allowed three earned runs on six hits in 5.1 innings... Followed that up with two more victories when he allowed just one run in five innings against Pacific on March 3, and one run in 6.1 innings with a season-high seven strikeouts against Hartford on March 10... Took a no decision at Missouri on April 21 after tossing 5.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts... Started his dominating stretch run of the season on May 5 against Nebraska Omaha when he lasted seven innings, allowing three runs with five strikeouts, to pick up the win, while he allowed another three runs in 6.2 innings against Kansas on May 12... Best performance of the year came in a complete game at Texas Tech on May 18 when he allowed one run on six hits with a walk and five strikeouts... It was K-State's first nine-inning complete game since 2009 and his performance earned him Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors.
Iowa Central CC: Played two seasons for the Tritons under head coach Rick Peterson... Held a career 14-8 record and a 3.03 ERA, while he totaled 131 strikeouts... Ranks second in school history with 13 career complete games, sixth in career strikeouts and wins, and seventh in career ERA... Led team to a top-five national ranking and a 48-10 mark in 2010, going 8-5 with a 3.33 record... Tallied seven complete games and one save with 29 walks and 58 strikeouts... Came back the next season to help squad finish with a 39-15 mark as he went 6-3 with a 2.73 ERA and six complete games, while striking out 73 and walking 16... His 73 strikeouts are tied for the ninth-most in school history.
St. Edmond HS: Lettered four years for the Gales under head coach Aaron Davidson and Joe Shanks... Earned one first team all-state designation... Held a career 11-10 record and a 1.40 ERA... Led team to a 35-3 record and a state championship as a senior... Also lettered in basketball, football and track... Was a third-team all-state player in basketball, an all-district performer in football and a state champion in the 4x800, 4x200 and 4x400.
